About

Gabrielle Contelmo writes character-driven romance for adults and spooky short stories for people who like crytipds. She grew up in the Hudson Valley, which she still thinks is the most beautiful place on earth.

Gabrielle wrote her first book at age twelve, a poorly-disguised ripoff of the Animorphs series. She now writes romance novels, although she still loves science fiction and fantasy (hence the spooky short stories–and the hint of magic in her rom coms).

Her romances often feature themes like self-actualization, healthy, equal relationships (both romantic and platonic), and flawed, earnest characters. Her writing straddles the line between commercial and upmarket writing.

Gabrielle’s short fiction has been published or is forthcoming in HOPE: The Thing With Feathers, What Lurks: A Cryptid Anthology, NECKSNAP, Grim & Gilded, and 3Elements Literary Review, among others. Her short story “The Trouble with Memory” was nominated for a Puschart Prize.

Gabrielle is represented by Jennifer Udden of the Laura Dail Literary Agency. She is a member of the South Carolina Writers Association and the Women’s Fiction Writers Association.
